Advanced Placement Summer Reading Assignment
1. The Holy Bible
2. Crime and Punishment (Dostoevsky)
3. Grapes of Wrath (Steinbeck)
4. The Chosen (Potok)
5. Cry, the Beloved Country (Paton)
6. Farewell to Arms (Hemingway)
7. Jane Eyre (Bronte)
8. MacBeth (Shakespeare)
9. Classic novel of your choice...
Keep a Reader's Journal for each selection. In this journal, include a summary of your daily reading, and then
a response to your reading. A stenographer's notebook is a good idea for this assignment (summarize on the left, respond
on the right). Five separate one-to-two page entries are due for each selection. Please use only one side of the
sheet of paper, and write in blue or black ink.
